I don’t understand you isms! You have a day especially for loves and lovers, hearts, and all other manner of squishy cutesy things. Where you insist on giving and receiving flowers, sweets, and knickknacks. WHY????? The flowers are, well, dead, and just going to make a mess in a few days. The sweets, namely chocolate, once consumed by the female, will just cause her to complain more about her weight, lower her self-image, and force her to go on a “crash diet”. Lastly the knickknacks, while “cute”, will eventually grow old and end up on a shelf in a closet somewhere where all they will be good for is to collect dust and give you another thing to clean. So I must say again, WHY?!? The only purpose I see for this idiotic holiday is to boost the bottom line for all the flower sellers, candy makers, and knickknack peddlers around the country. Or perhaps give elementary school teachers another holiday to decorate for during the long stretch of holiday-less time that is January into early February. No other holiday makes the single people feel more left out, and the couples more likely to break up if things are not done exactly right. I really don’t understand you isms.
